New Katy stadium will add to Katy Mills scene

Aug 06, 2016

Katy ISD's $62.5 million football stadium opens in a year just down the road from the mall, promising to add a boost to local business. Economic activity happens around sports facilities when hosting teams, competitions and events. Retail and hotel/hospitality industries especially see the direct impact being located near an active facility. The school district said it plans to use the stadium to host events such as concerts, banquets, musical contests and college football summer camps. But soon enough, players from the defending state champions Katy High Tigers, as well as Katy ISD's six other high schools, will be sprinting down the field in front of thousands of spectators.
